Universidade Eduardo Mondlane

Eduardo Mondlane University (Portuguese: Universidade Eduardo Mondlane or UEM) is a public university located in Maputo, Mozambique.Founded in 1962 as Estudos Gerais Universitários de Moçambique, the institution acquired its university status in 1968 . In 1976, after the independence of Mozambique, the university was renamed in the name of Eduardo Chivambo Mondlane, the president of the Mozambique Liberation Front from 1962 to 1969.
